23 APRIL: PRINCESSES, WRITERS AND KNIGHTS

Whether you believe in fairy tales or prefer more realistic stories, 23 April is for you. It’s World Book and Copyright Day: a day for those who like to get lost in strange and unknown worlds, reading until the small hours. It’s also the day the world lost two literary giants: William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes.

In Catalonia, this special day is known as the Day of Sant Jordi, a brave knight who saved a princess by killing a dragon as it was about to eat her. The story says that a rose bush grew where the dragon’s blood was spilt, and that’s why roses, as well as books, are given as gifts to celebrate 23 April.

The streets and avenues of Barcelona are filled with books and red roses – a display that you cannot miss. Visit the stalls on the Rambla de Catalunya in the morning and enjoy a floral show in the afternoon at La Roca Village.

At La Roca Village, striking bushes bearing roses of all shades of red and pink are currently filling the Village with colour. You can discover more than 130 boutiques from the finest national and international fashion and lifestyle brands, including Etro, Furla, Levi's, Maje, Michael Kors and many more, all offering savings of up to 60% on the recommended retail price. This makes the Village the perfect choice for experiencing a different Sant Jordi, while letting yourself be surprised by the collections in the boutiques.

So… princesses, writers and knights… everyone is welcome at La Roca Village.
