There aren’t many outfits that ooze nonchalance more than a masculine suit, especially when it’s designed with relaxed proportions, in lightweight, glamorous fabrics.
“I feel very comfortable wearing a man’s suit or men’s shoes or a man’s coat so I’m really happy that look is pretty much always in fashion,” says Eugenia Silva, model and star of The Bicester Village Shopping Collection’s autumn shoot.
This season the masculine suit is a firm favourite whether you’re in the office or out on the town. “A suit doesn’t have to be worn as a suit – instead, see it as an ensemble of separates that can be styled into several different looks,” explains Christina Abbott, a personal shopper at Bicester Village. “Pair a masculine suit jacket with a chiffon or silk skirt, or wear suit trousers with a relaxed printed T-shirt. With the outfit possibilities it presents, a quality suit is a worthwhile investment.”
For Eugenia, a masculine suit would be paired with trainers or men’s Oxford shoes. “I’m a shoe size 10 so I can always find men’s shoes to fit!” she laughs.
“I love a suit and then a coat and then something on top. I love to play with layers. And when it comes to winter, I’d wear the suit with a turtleneck or just a plain white shirt or T-shirt. That’s a very Armani, Lauren Hutton kind of look and it’s always a winner.”
